TED Talk Video: The Happy Secret To Better Work
“Thank you” to my friend Tony Brogna for sharing this funny and fantastic TED talk video by Shawn Achor.
I can get engrossed in building my business while working a full-time job and miss things that are right in front of me. I get the feeling that happiness is something that comes after success–I don’t totally believe that, but boy do I act like it sometimes. The video below challenges that notion and gives us an exercise that we can take on for 21 days to help us make a shift in our happiness and our performance.
Below the video are some of the quotes I thought you would like and information on the exercise from the video.

“Why do you waste your time studying happiness at Harvard? Seriously, what does a Harvard student possibly have to be unhappy about? Embedded within that question is the key to understanding the science of happiness. Because what that question assumes is that our external world is predictive of our happiness levels; when in reality, if I know everything about your external world I can only predict 10% of your long-term happiness.”
“90% of your long-term happiness is predicted not by the external world, but the way your brain processes the world.”
“If happiness is on the other side of success, your brain never gets there.” Tweet this Quote

By the way, if you are a fan of TED talks, there are plenty online which you can watch. Or, alternatively, you could approach your employer to see if they could organise one as a sort of training activity. There are plenty of sports speakers available for bookings who offer interesting motivational talks.
