This audio is a great piece from “Innovation Hub.” In it Kara Miller is talking with Tom Friedman, the author of “The World is Flat.” He wrote that book 10 years ago and he provides context on how much things have changed. There was no Facebook, Cloud computing (at least to the masses) and things like Skype.
We are more connected than ever and a lot has changed in the job market. He talks about having to go look for a job back in his day but his daughters will have to Invent their own jobs.
This really struck a cord with the work I’m doing with “Brand Inside a Brand.” We can put our heads down and just keep working hard and expect to get great results. We may get great results but it will only be fore the company we are working for. What I’m proposing is that we provide kick ass service to the company we serve and to ourselves. I never get tired of telling people, the only things we can take with us are the skills we build, the relationships (real ones) and the name we’ve built.
Enjoy the audio and I’d love to hear your thought on it once you are done.
What rang true for you in that story?
