The political candidates are not the only ones who could use your votes. Between August 13 – August 31 the voting for SXSW proposals is open. That means you have an opportunity to influence how this whole conference shapes up. Voting for me is easy: http://bit.ly/brunysxsw.
At first I thought about creating a presentation, but then decided I wanted to do something a little bit different, so I went with a meet up. It’s called, “New Conference Networking: #Hashtags to Handshakes.” “Yes,” I know the name is different from my brand, but that’s what happens when you have character limitations. Anyway, the goal is still the same–Help people make connections before they get to conferences so they feel connected when they are at the conference.
The business case
100% disclosure; I Michael Ambassador Bruny have never been to SXSW. I’ve watched it closely for the last two years and two things have been coming out of my research.
1. Some feel it’s too big / overwhelming and they get paralyzed <–I’m focused on helping these folks
2. Some feel is big but are able to wade through thousands of people and make great connections
My hypothesis
By systematically connecting with people before a conference you will exponentially increase your enjoyment at the actual conference and connect with the people who want to connect with.
The vision
Get my meet-up proposal accepted by the panel of judges and move on with planning to connect people before they come to the actual meet-up. I’ll share more details as we move forward, but the number one priority right now is to get votes from you and cool people like you (so share). To vote visit my link, sign up and wham, you are done. Next steps
Test the hypothesis at SXSW by putting on a meet up where people can connect and feel that they know some people while at the conference. You may be thinking, well what if I already know people at the conference? It is very well possible that you can go through the whole conference and NOT run into people you know….even though they are there (of course if you are staying in the same house, hotel, hostel, etc. increases the chances)
Thank you!
Your Ambassador,
Mike Bruny
