Hip Hop Affirmation of the Day:
“SHINE YOUR LIGHT ON THE WORLD. SHINE YOUR LIGHT FOR THE WORLD TO SEE.”-Mos Def(Umi Said)

If I had to add a caption to the photo above it would say, “Yeah, I’m talking to you? Despite what you may think or feel; you have something to offer!”
I am writing you after addressing a group of junior high school students who are participating in a community service activity when they could have been home in bed instead of fighting the New England snow.
Stealing a page from Reverend King, I told them, they can all be great because they can all serve. In the case of the 7th and 8th graders who were present, it may be a 5th or 6th grader who needs their service. In my case it may be a young professional who has worked a couple of years and finds themself in search of meaningful work and/or looking to do work that is more aligned with who they are.
Why Reverend King’s Statement is True for Everyone?
We are all at different stages on our journey. Looking back at a place you have already traveled and lending a hand doesn’t only help those you are serving. You also get to re-visit that stage of your journey with new insights (positive and negative) and may get new found inspiration to stay strong in your current stage.
Affirmation of the Day: I am great because I can be of service
Question of the Day: What do you have to offer?
Action of the Day: Think about where you were a few years back and how you have changed and grown. Find someone who is at your former stage and share you experiences with them.
Run the Point; from where you are, with what you have!
