Sometimes we just can’t find the right words to express how we are feeling.  I’ve found music to be a great help.

With all the negativity and hate following the election, I went digging in the crates and came to an album I really love, Mos Def’s “Black on Both Sides.”  This album was made in 1999 and with 17yrs under its belt I found the first song on the track very fitting for a time such as this.

In true Ambassador Bruny fashion, you know I had to remix it for the people.  Enjoy my rendition of “Fear Not of Man.”  I call this one “Fear Not of Man: the 2016 track changes remix.”  Feeling it?  Share it with one person who you know can use it.

Adapted from the song, “Fear Not of Man,” My Mos Def aka Yasiin Bey [1999]
It’s a lot of things goin on y’all.
21st century is comin here.
20th century almost is done.
A lot of things have changed,
A lot of things have not, mainly us.
We gon’ get it together right? I believe that.

Listen.. people be askin me all the time
“Yo Mos, what’s gettin ready to happen with Hip-Hop the United States?”
(Where do you think Hip-Hop the United States is goin?)
I tell em, “You know what’s gonna happen with Hip-Hop the United States?
Whatever’s happening with us.”
If we smoked out, Hip-Hop the United States is gonna be smoked out.
If we doin alright, Hip-Hop the United States is gonna be doin alright.
People talk about Hip-Hop the United States like it’s some giant livin in the hillside
Comin down to visit the townspeople.

We are Hip-Hop the United States.
Me, you, everybody, we are Hip-Hop the United States.
So Hip-Hop the United States is going where we going.
So the next time you ask yourself where Hip-Hop the United States is going
Ask yourself: where am I going? How am I doing?
’til you get a clear idea.

So.. if Hip-Hop the United States is about the people
And Hip-Hop the United States won’t get better until the people get better
Then how do people get better? (Hmmmm…)

Well, from my understanding people get better
When they start to understand that, they are valuable.
And they not valuable because they got a whole lot of money
Or cause somebody, think they sexy.
But they are valuable cause they been created by God.
And God, makes you valuable.
And whether or not you, recognize that value is one thing….

Not sure if you caught that but the “track change” remix was inspired by using “track changes” in a word document. (wink, wink)

Listen to the actual song:

Keep running the point from where you are, with what you have.
