Affirmation of the Day: Change starts with me and it starts today
I had a great conversation with a friend yesterday who was sick and tired of being sick and tired. He works in the fitness industry (manages a Gym) and found himself in a position where he was passed over for a position (District Manager) that was given to someone from outside the company. My friend’s new boss has no experience in the fitness field and is responsible to help my friend grow. After butting heads a couple of times, my friend was ready to jump ship.
As all this was going on he still carried on his business in the most professional manner. He met a gentleman who owns a gym in California and had the courage to tell him, “If you are ever looking for someone to help expand your gym, give me a call.” As fate would have it the gentleman from California was looking to expand his gym. So what happened next? My friend took a trip to California to check out the gym and the opportunity for growth. In a few weeks he is taking the leap from being on the East Coast all his life, where his family lives and making the move to California. My hat goes off to him for taking the leap.Â
What’s going on behind the scene:
- Preparation: My friend has been working hard both in his work and on his work in the fitness industry. He has been doing the necessary work in personal and professional development that makes him confident that he will succeed.
- Self Worth: My friend realized that he was worth more than what his current company is paying him and he deserves better than how they are treating him.
- Opportunity: My friend sought an opportunity and it came to him. If he did not put it out there, it would not have manifested.
- Counsel: My friend called me because he knew I would be a positive force and I would help to connect him with others who may be helpful as he makes this new journey in his life.
