Hip Hop Affirmation of the Day#334

“The big question is what I can do for the youth?  Everybody lyin’ to ’em so I told ’em the truth?” ~Young Jeezy (The Inspiration)

Affirmation of the Day: I always speak my truth

Jeezy’s lyrics here give me a picture of more than just little kids when he speaks of youth.  I think it reaches into the world of young professionals as well.  It makes me think about college and the great knowledge you obtain (well you were supposed to) and how it correlates to the real skills needed once you graduate.  They don’t always correlate so as a newbie you may quickly realize that what is taught in the books can be a little bit different from what actually happens.  The book knowledge can serve as a foundation for you to do different and greater things.  Don’t get stuck on the truth of the textbook and strive to make the truth of the present moment wrong.  The cool thing is that as you live, you learn, you grow.  That truth changes or better yet evolves as you go through life.

I’ve seen it first hand when I thought because I graduated from college (and even graduate school), I was ready for everything and entitled to everything.  I quickly learned that having a college degree did not make you the winner of the game called life.  It only put you in the race with a different set of skills.

Question of the Day:What are some of your truths that have changed or evolved over time?

Action of the Day: Find a venue to speak, write, sing or any other form of expression for your truth

Run the Point, from where you are, with what you have!
