Hip Hop Affirmation of the Day#329

“Being broke is a joke, I never found it funny.  That’s why I count my blessings as much as I count my money.” ~Fabolous (Change up)

Listen to the Hip Hop Song: Change up

I am thankful for all the blessings that have been given to me this year.  I have been blessed to be part of many things that I thought was just impossible and worked with folks I could not have foreseen.  One example of that is this blog, HipHopAffirmations.com.  At the end of 2009 I had a vision of bringing 365 days of hip hop affirmations to you, but I did not have the slightest how I would execute it.  I started by quickly learning WordPress and gathering lyrics here and there.  I was introduced to a pretty cool web designer who helped me to create the sight you are seeing today.

Each step I’ve taken has provided new ways to grow and new people to be part of the journey.  That includes business partners, stylist and fellow hip hop lyric lovers in folks like Tonya “Rap” Rapley, my man Elliot from www.hiphopinspires.us and contributing writers like Scott Rossow.  I am thankful for all of them.

Tips for Counting Your Blessings:

  1. Take time alone to reflect on the events of this year or the past couple of months (if you have a journal you may want to visit some of your old entries as a refresher)
  2. Think about the people that made things possible for you and those who have taught you lessons
  3. Create a list of those people and send them an email, give them a phone call or send them a card (the hand written note  is becoming more and more rare)

Affirmation of the Day: I am truly blessed

Question of the Day: Do you have any giving thanks rituals?

Action of the Day: Call up at least 5 people (enough with all this digital stuff) and tell them why you are thankful for them.
