Affirmation of the Day: I know somethings are worth keeping in my life.
I’m working on a visual project called, “Life Shield” that has me taking a look at my past, my future and my journey thus far. It made me reminisce of my high school days and how we used to play spades at Ms. E’s house and hang out with the fellas (Thanks Fenton and Shirley for allowing us to share your mom) like Joel, Mark, Bandele, Hans, Fenton, Perry, etc. When I think back to those days I felt pretty cool, as if I was part of the, “in crowd.”
There is this interesting dynamic that I’ve experienced which is the fluidity of the “in crowd.” Once you leave for college, as I did, coming back home just wasn’t the same. The people I used to hang out with where either onto different things or not coming home for break. There was one crazy guy who stayed in touch and made sure that I knew what was happening in the city (latest songs, dances, hot spots to chill) and his name is Hans. The guy looked out for me and we’ve been friends ever since–in fact he is one of my best friends and was a best man at my wedding.
Why did I share this with you?; because I want you to be ready for change and transition in your life and I also want you to be ready for things to be stable and a “rock” in your life; something for someone that helps to make things seem familiar. Hans served as that rock for me so I thought I’d give him a shout out.
Question of the Day: Who or what helps you get that familiar feeling in a strange place?
