Affirmation of the Day: I am away of my history which helps me to better understand my present and plan my future

So here I am sitting at my presentation and my introduction slide let’s the folks know that I live in Massachusetts but I am from Brooklyn.  We go on with our workshop (I was co-leading with Lady Karen) and have a great time, the participants are giving us rave reviews and i’m feeling pretty good.  There was still icing to be put on the cake.

One of the participants remembers that I am from Brooklyn and ask me, “did you know that Brooklyn was named after a town in the Netherlands called Breukelen?”  My answer was, “no,” and he preceded to drop knowledge on me regarding where my hometown originally got its name.  He also let me know that that town was only 15 kilometers (that’s about 9 miles for all my folks in the U.S.) from where we were holding our workshop.  Our course I have to ask my partner Karen if we could go and check the town out.  After a little bit of convincing she agreed and we headed out that way and I was able to feel like I was part of history.  I took a picture at a bridge jokingly saying, “This is the original Brooklyn Bridge.”  We had lunch in Breukelen; As I took it all in looking for as many signs that I could find to take pictures with.

Next stop is the day in Amsterdam.  There is so much history in this place and it makes me want to just bring you all along for the next trip so you can experience it for yourself.

Question of the Day: What part of your history do you need to get better connected to?

Action of the Day: Wherever you are in the world; pick up a book that will give you a little bit of history on your city.
