Affirmation of the Day: I have excellent discernment skills
On Tuesday when I was flying into The Netherlands I noticed the article on the front of Fortune magazine. It was talking about yet another corporate scandal that involved an executive at IBM, a woman and insider trading. Turns out the IBM guy was having an affair with the woman, who was working for another guy who she was really in love with but he would not leave his wife. The woman got insider information from the IBM guy so she could give it to the other guy–you know, the one she is working for and is in love with but would not leave his wife. Sounds confusing? You bet.
The IBM guy was a straight laced good guy, according to sources quoted in the magazine, who got caught up in a love triangle. At some point he had to make several decisions. He had to decide to have the affair and he had to decide to share information about the biz that he wasn’t supposed to. It sounds like he made the wrong decision; or did he? Is the obvious answer always the obvious choice?
