Hip Hop Affirmation of the Day#201

Ambassador’s Note: We are going with a week of Drake lyrics, so if you have favorites that I have not used, send them along.

“CAUSE YOU KNOW LIFE IS WHAT WE MAKE IT AND A CHANCE IS LIKE A PICTURE, IT’D BE NICE IF YOU JUST TAKE IT.” ~DRAKE (UNTHINKABLE REMIX; ALICIA KEYS F. DRAKE)

Affirmation of the Day: I know the biggest risk is not to take one

I hit up the Providence, Rhode Island Sound Session event yesterday and had a chance to connect with my old college buddy Indigo.  As much as things change some things never will.  She greeted me with a big, “Bruny!” and couple of slaps on the arm <smile>.  We played catch up as we waited for the poetry slam to begin at The Providence Black Repertory Company aka “The Black Rep.”

She shared her story of teaching in different places, getting her masters in Anthropology from Brown University and starting her own company.  As I listened, what was really cool to me was to see how she has developed and how she looks for opportunity in every situation.  She has always been good at writing (I got her second book of poetry: “But Beautiful: Reflections on Love and Loss“– I would love to lend it to you, really,  but that wouldn’t be supporting my people’s business.  Get your own!) so she got the necessary knowledge to become a grant and business plan writer.

She’s looking to keep taking her consultant practice to a next level so home girl is taking golf lessons. I LOVE IT!  You see, not only did Indigo and I got to college together in upstate New York (Hartwick College), but we are also Brooklynites.  I love to see people who use what they have to get where they want to be (i.e Running the Point!).  I’m not proud of Indigo (wouldn’t want it to go to her head), because I would expect nothing less from her and i’m going to trade-in congratulations for cultivation.  She is now part of my business crew and if anyone is looking for a grant writer, business plan writer or anything else to do with writing, I’m going to connect them with her.  That’s the Ambassador’s way, pass it on.  I’m out!

Question of the Day: Where is the opportunity for you to stop complaining and start making the most of a situation?

Action of the Day: Say 3 positive things about every situation you are involved in today (yes you have to say something positive about the interaction you had what that guy or girl that gets on your nerves)

Run the Point from where you, are with what you have!

Your Ambassador,

Mike Bruny

P.S. Holy cow, in 7 days I will be on a plane to Amsterdam for my workshop I am co-creating: “All Aboard: Life Won’t Wait, Why Should You?”
