Affirmation of the Day: I am authentic in every situation
I was so close to not going because the heat was beating me down, but boy am I glad I did. Last night I attended a pretty cool branding and networking event called, “Media Branding 2.0: How to get attention!” It was held at Ryles in Cambridge, MA. I had the chance to rub elbows with a number of different folks in the Boston area. Of course I was out and about with my signature bow tie (you know how I do).
I had a great time and the networking was hot. My experience continues to be that the people you meet at the end of an event (those who are hanging around) have been the coolest. Is there some kind of correlation between hanging late and being the right people I’m looking to connect with? I haven’t figured that one out yet. I will continue to share whatever I discover. Here’s a couple for you; if you want to know anything about personal branding you have to checkout the host of yesterday’s event Dan Schawbel at: personalbrandingblog.com. Looking for information on an event in Boston? You have to hit up man Joselin Mane: info@bostontweetup.com
I wanted to bring back a few of the notes I jotted down, in hopes that they are in service of you or someone you know:
- Be a Curator: There really is no new content under the sun. You can use research from others, repackage and move forward ( give credit where credit is due)
- Relationships: Important to build relationships with folks in the media. You do that just like any other relationship and that’s by adding value, paying attention to what they are doing and knowing it will take time.
- Know the Game: there was mention about understanding how the media gets their information. They go with what is trending. That means if you stay on top of what is trending but add a different spin to it, then you have a greater chance of your pitch being received well.
Our Panelist from last night:
Mel Robbins life and business coach and radio personality (this woman was no joke and straight to the point!–love it), Ted McEnroe from NESN, Lisa Van der Pool from The Boston Business Journal, Lylah M. Alphonse from the Boston Globe.
Question of the Day: What event do you need to be a part of to change your life, your business, your relationships?
Action of the Day: Go to www.meetup.com and find an event in your area that you are interested in and connect with like minded people.
Run the Point from where you are, with what you have!
Your Ambassador,
