Affirmation of the Day: “following the crowd is ok, but I choose independence”

Happy 4th of July. Independence day.  I’m getting ready to hit up Martha’s Vineyard in a couple of hours.  As I prepare for my trip and think about what this day means to me it reminds me that I have been independent for a long time.

As a kid I did not hesitate to travel alone by plane or bus as I headed to Canada or Boston from NYC to connect with family.  As I got a little bit older I took the steps to make my own money to make it easier on my parents.  You would laugh if I listed all of the jobs I’ve done in my short lifetime (newspaper boy, spice packager, video store cashier, short order cook at a Salad restaurant….reach out if you want the full list).

Independence is great but interdependence is still better.  That’s where two independent folks get together to create even greater things that could not have be done on their own.  A great analogy is Voltron( thanks for the thought Jude). The lions were pretty bad(meaning good) on their own but when they got together they formed  an unstoppable force known as Voltron. Check out the clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZZv5Z2Iz_s .

Keep your independence but imagine what you could do if we joined forces! “..and I’ll form the head!”

Question of the Day: Where is the opportunity for interdependence for you? Who do you need to connect with?

Action of the Day: Form a short term partnership for the next 3 months as a test run of interdependence. (We would love to hear about them)

Run the Point from where you are, with what you have!
