Live from LAX, Today’s Hip Hop Affirmation is dedicated to the new Mr. and Mrs. Jason and Carrie Veley; friends who became lovers. Watching my boy Jason get married yesterday nearly brought tears to my eyes.  No it wasn’t because I thought he was losing his individuality but because he was gaining a life partner.  We go back to ’96; we went from college sports camp counselors at Cornell to being housemates in Syracuse, to him getting married.
I can’t help but think of a comment someone made yesterday, “I hope they beat the odds.” Hope is part of the equation but it’s incomplete without faith and love.
They are to love each other unconditionally, meaning even when they are pissed off at each other, they should still take care of each other.  They are to have faith as they and their relationship evolve that they will not be the same people, but trust that they were put together for a reason greater than our limited understanding can full grasp.
