Using Social Media as a Personal Branding Tool for Employee Advocacy

In this post we focus on Social Media as you work towards becoming a Brand Inside a Brand to enhance your career.  Social Media is one of three parts in Phase 4 (Lead) of becoming a Brand Inside a Brand.

We’ve already spoken about:

Phase 1: Assessment

Phase 2: Build (Relationships and Community)

Phase 3: Manage  (Projects and Time/Priorities)

Phase 4: Lead (Thought LeadershipStorytelling)

Now let’s take a look at Social Media.

The video above covers the importance to leveraging social media to amplify your message as well as an opportunity to listen to your audience.

Many professionals still aren’t leveraging social media as a way to enhance their career.  Here are 3 steps I’d like you to take

  1. Sign up…completely. You can start with LinkedIn (that may feel safer for you), potentially look at Twitter
  2. Join a couple of Twitter chats; it’s a great way to start connecting with people and building your twitter following; I’ll have more details in later episodes on how you can actually start these things up.
  3. Use your email signature as a way to invite people to join you on your new social media platforms.

Helping your employees build their own personal brand is the best reward you could give them.  Need help?  I’d love to learn more about your specific situation; use this link to connect: Let’s Connect

I have a deep desire to help spread entrepreneurial thinking as the solutions to many of our problems today. I am a project kind of guy who loves to get things started. When I'm not in search of contract work (projects) that I can do during the nights and weekends I can be found working as a mild mannered Digital Content Manager for Babson Executive Education.
